Andaman & Nicobar Honeymoon: A Guide for Indian Couples

Okay, so, here's the deal. My husband and I finally got to go to the Andamans for our honeymoon, and honestly? It was even better than I imagined. I mean, turquoise waters, white sand beaches… I'm still dreaming about it. This isn't your typical tourist trap; it's a truly special place, and I'm excited to share all my tips with you guys so you can plan an amazing Andaman & Nicobar honeymoon too!

Destination Overview: Paradise Found (Almost)

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands are an archipelago in the Bay of Bengal, a seriously stunning group of islands. The culture is a mix of different influences—a bit of everything, really. One thing to know? It's super diverse and beautiful. There's this amazing mix of lush rainforests, pristine beaches, and vibrant coral reefs, which makes it an incredible honeymoon spot. People often think it's just beaches, but there's so much more!

When to Visit: Sun, Sand, and…Rain?

Umm, so, the best time to visit is honestly during the winter months (October to March). It's less humid and less rainy. We went in December, and it was perfect. But, you know, every season has its charm (and some rain!).

High Season (October - March)

This is when it's busiest, and prices are higher. But the weather is amazing. Think perfect sunshine for all those beach photos!

Shoulder Season (April-May & September-October)

These months offer a good balance—fewer crowds and pleasant weather, but you might get a bit of rain. We almost went in September but decided against it because of potential storms.

Getting There & Around: Island Hopping 101

Most people fly into Port Blair (IXZ). Air India and IndiGo are the main airlines, but you can find deals on other budget airlines, too. From Port Blair, you can take ferries or pre-booked boats to other islands. Ferries are cheaper but slower. We splurged on a speedboat for Havelock—totally worth it.

Where to Stay: From Budget-Friendly to Luxurious Bliss

Port Blair has tons of options, from budget-friendly guesthouses to fancy resorts. Havelock and Neil Islands are more focused on resorts and homestays. We stayed at a beachfront resort in Havelock—pure magic! I wish I could remember the exact name, but the view was incredible. The hotel on Neil Island was okay, but I don’t recommend it.

What to See & Do: Beyond the Beaches

Radhanagar Beach in Havelock Island was voted one of the best beaches in Asia, and it totally lives up to the hype. But don't stop there! Explore the mangroves, go scuba diving or snorkeling (the coral reefs are amazing!), and visit Cellular Jail in Port Blair for a historical experience. It’s quite sobering, but important.

Food & Drink: A Culinary Adventure

The food is a delicious mix of Indian and Southeast Asian flavors. Try the fresh seafood—it's incredible! We ate at a little shack on the beach in Havelock that served the best grilled fish I've ever had! There are a lot of cafes and restaurants with various cuisines too.

Practical Tips: Making the Most of Your Trip

Book flights and ferries in advance, especially if you're traveling during peak season. Pack light, bring reef-safe sunscreen, and don't forget your mosquito repellent! Oh, and cash is king in some areas; ATMs aren’t everywhere.

Suggested Itineraries: Making Memories

A 5-day trip is perfect to hit the highlights: Port Blair (Cellular Jail, Anthropological Museum), Havelock (Radhanagar Beach, scuba diving), and Neil Island (beaches, snorkeling).

Responsible Tourism: Protecting Paradise

Be mindful of the environment—don't litter, use reef-safe sunscreen, and try to support local businesses. Respect the local culture and traditions.

Final Thoughts: A Honeymoon to Remember

The Andamans were truly magical. It was the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and romance. If you're planning a honeymoon, this should be at the top of your list. Seriously, go. You won’t regret it! Let me know if you have any questions—I’m happy to help!
